Whats most interesting is the land is so vast and full of potential but it hasn't been used , the first time i landed in Berbera (has an Airstrip with the longest runway in Africa) i had to connect to the capital (Hargeisa) by road hence evidence of the sea level ages ago can be seen by the display of the mineral elements e.g rocks rich in iron , the most interesting thing was a hill that had two faces (Hawa iyo Adan (Adam and eve ) the locals call it ).
Berbera has a ridiculously beautiful beach , calm waters , freshly made sea food(fish, crabs, lobsters etc) is available at the maansoor hotel , air conditioned and lovely rooms, fairly priced is on the located approx. 20 mtrs from the sea
Berbera is also famous for the great somali lover (Elmi bowdery) lived and worked in berbera , he use to work in a little bakery in the city where he met leila (the lady he fell in love) he later died because he couldnt get the love of his life . the bakery is still there but is the love???? may be we need a love gauge to check that !!
old turkish buildings, mosques and colonial buildings are evident in the city ....
Berbera also has a big port and most often while driving in you will encounter herds of goats and camels making their way to the port for exportation .
i call it berbs .....
